Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 23, 2026

IslandTulle ("IslandTulle", "we", "us", or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and what rights you have over it.

This policy applies to islandtulle.com and all services operated by IslandTulle, including vendor listings, couple accounts, on-platform messaging, subscription billing, blog content, and the vendor waitlist — wherever this policy is linked or referenced.

By creating an account or using IslandTulle, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our services. This policy should be read alongside our Terms of Service.

I. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly

We collect information when you register for an account, create a profile, submit an inquiry, write a review, or communicate with us. Depending on your role, this may include:

  • Account information: your name, email address, password (stored as a secure hash — we never store it in plain text), and account role (couple or vendor).
  • Couple profile: partner names, wedding date, island or parish, ceremony type (Hindu, Catholic, Muslim, civil, destination, etc.), estimated guest count, style preferences, checklist progress, and shortlisted vendors.
  • Vendor profile: business name, category, island, contact details (phone, WhatsApp number, email, Instagram handle, website), service description, price range, portfolio photos, and wedding types served.
  • Inquiry and messaging content: messages sent between couples and vendors through the IslandTulle platform.
  • Reviews: written review content, ratings, and any vendor responses.
  • Waitlist submissions: name, email, island, role (couple or vendor), and any optional wedding details provided at pre-launch sign-up.
  • Payment information: when you subscribe to a Premium vendor plan, you are redirected to WiPay Caribbean's Hosted Payment Page (HPP) processed by First Atlantic Commerce. IslandTulle does not handle, store, or have access to your card number or bank details. We store only the transaction reference, plan details, subscription status, and billing interval.
  • Communications with us: if you contact us by email or through a contact form, we retain those messages to respond to you and improve our support.

Information collected automatically

When you visit IslandTulle, we automatically collect certain technical and behavioural information, including:

  • IP address, browser type, operating system, and device identifiers
  • Pages viewed, links clicked, and time spent on each page
  • Referring URLs and search terms used to reach our site
  • Geolocation data (country or region level, derived from IP address)
  • Session recordings and heatmaps on public pages, to help us understand usability issues
  • Product analytics events on authenticated pages — for example, when a vendor views their inquiry dashboard or a couple completes a checklist task

We collect this information using cookies, web beacons, and similar tracking technologies. See Section IV for details.

Information from third parties

If you sign in via a social login (if offered), we receive basic profile information from that provider consistent with your account settings there. We do not purchase or receive data about you from data brokers.

II. How We Use Your Information

We use your personal information to:

  • Create and manage your account and authenticate your sessions
  • Operate the marketplace — enabling couples to discover vendors, send inquiries, save shortlists, and track checklist progress
  • Deliver on-platform messaging and notifications — including real-time messages, web push notifications, and email alerts
  • Process vendor subscription payments and maintain billing records
  • Send transactional emails — inquiry confirmations, inquiry notifications, account updates, review requests, and subscription receipts
  • Send marketing emails about IslandTulle features, news, and offers — you can opt out at any time via the unsubscribe link in every marketing email
  • Analyse platform usage to improve search, vendor ranking, and the overall user experience
  • Monitor site performance and identify errors
  • Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorised access
  • Comply with applicable laws and enforce our Terms of Service

We do not use your personal information to serve you third-party advertisements. IslandTulle products are ad-free. Any analytics tools we use serve internal product and performance purposes only.

III. Who We Share It With

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in the circumstances described below.

Service providers acting on our behalf

We work with trusted third-party service providers to operate IslandTulle. These providers process your data only as necessary to deliver their specific service and under appropriate data protection terms. The categories of providers we use include:

  • Database and authentication providers — to store your account data, authenticate your sessions, and power real-time messaging.
  • Image hosting and delivery providers — to store and serve vendor portfolio photos and other images on the platform.
  • Payment processors — to handle Premium vendor subscription payments in TTD. When you subscribe, you are redirected to our payment processor's secure Hosted Payment Page. IslandTulle does not handle, store, or have access to your card number or bank details.
  • Email delivery providers — to send transactional and marketing emails on our behalf. Your email address and relevant personalisation data are passed to our email provider when we contact you.
  • Push notification providers — to deliver web push notifications to your browser when you have opted in.
  • Hosting and infrastructure providers — to serve the platform globally, manage deployments, and process server-side request logs.
  • Analytics providers — to measure platform performance and product usage. See Section IV for details on each analytics tool we use.

Other platform users

When a couple submits an inquiry to a vendor, the following information is shared with that vendor: the couple's name, email address, wedding date (if provided), and the content of their message. This is the core function of the marketplace — no further data is shared without your consent.

Vendor profiles — including business name, category, photos, price range, WhatsApp number, Instagram handle, and reviews — are publicly visible on IslandTulle to all visitors.

Legal and safety disclosures

We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or regulation, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of IslandTulle, our users, or the public.

Business transfers

If IslandTulle is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a materially different privacy policy.

IV. Cookies & Analytics

IslandTulle uses cookies and similar tracking technologies for three purposes: keeping you logged in, measuring site performance, and understanding how the platform is used.

Session cookies

IslandTulle uses cookie-based sessions to keep you logged in. These are strictly necessary — without them, you cannot stay authenticated. They are not used for advertising.

Analytics tools we use

  • Performance analytics — we measure page load times and site performance metrics in aggregate. This does not track individual users.
  • Google Analytics — we use Google Analytics to understand how people find IslandTulle and which pages they visit. This runs on public pages. Google's data collection is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
  • Session recording and heatmaps — we use a session recording tool on public pages to understand how visitors interact with the platform. This helps us identify usability issues. It does not run on authenticated pages.
  • Product analytics — we use a product analytics tool on authenticated pages only (vendor and couple dashboards) to understand how features are used and improve the platform experience. It does not run on public pages.

Managing cookies

Most browsers allow you to refuse new cookies, be notified when a cookie is set, or delete existing cookies. Disabling strictly necessary cookies (session cookies) will prevent you from logging in. Disabling analytics cookies will not affect your ability to use IslandTulle — it will only limit our ability to measure and improve the platform.

V. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services. Specific retention practices:

  • Account data: retained for the life of your account. If you delete your account, we delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law (for example, payment records for tax compliance purposes).
  • Messages: stored permanently in our database while your account is active. Messages are deleted when the associated account is deleted, subject to any legal retention requirements.
  • Reviews: reviews you publish remain on the platform and are associated with the vendor profile. If you delete your account, your name is anonymised but the review content may remain to preserve the integrity of the vendor's rating history.
  • Payment records: WiPay transaction records are retained for a minimum of 7 years in accordance with T&T financial record-keeping requirements.
  • Waitlist data: retained until the waitlist is closed at launch or until you request removal.
  • Analytics data: subject to the retention settings of each analytics provider (GA4, Clarity, PostHog). We do not control third-party analytics retention directly, but you may request deletion via the opt-out mechanisms described in Section IV.

VI. Your Rights & Choices

Regardless of where you are located, you have the following rights in relation to your personal information:

  • Access: you can request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correction: you can update most of your personal information directly in your account dashboard. For corrections we cannot make available to you directly, contact us at privacy@islandtulle.com.
  • Deletion: you can request deletion of your account and personal information. We will process valid deletion requests within 30 days. Some information may be retained where required by law.
  • Opt out of marketing emails: every marketing email from IslandTulle includes an unsubscribe link. You can also update your preferences in your account settings. Opting out of marketing emails does not affect transactional emails (inquiry notifications, payment receipts, account security alerts).
  • Opt out of web push notifications: you can revoke push notification permission at any time through your browser settings or your IslandTulle notification preferences.
  • Portability: you can request an export of your data in a machine-readable format by contacting us at privacy@islandtulle.com.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@islandtulle.com with enough information to verify your identity (the email address associated with your account is sufficient). We will respond within 30 days.

VII. Data Security

We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect the confidentiality and security of your personal information. All data transmitted between your browser and IslandTulle is encrypted in transit. Passwords are never stored in plain text. Payment card data is never processed or stored by IslandTulle — it is handled entirely by our PCI-compliant payment processor on their secure Hosted Payment Page.

No data transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential and for logging out of shared devices when your session is complete.

If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at privacy@islandtulle.com.

VIII. Children's Privacy

IslandTulle is not directed at children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 18 without parental consent, we will delete it promptly.

If you believe a child under 18 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@islandtulle.com.

IX. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as our services evolve or as required by applicable law. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email (to the address associated with your account) or by a prominent notice on the platform before the changes take effect.

The date at the top of this page reflects when the policy was last updated. Continued use of IslandTulle after a change is posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
